Food Donations

The Food Bank welcomes all donations of professionally packaged food, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Wild game is gladly accepted as long as it has been professionally cut and wrapped by a certified USDA processor (such as Woods Meats). We are also happy to accept farm fresh eggs, as well as orchard and garden produce. The Food Bank has a number of coolers and freezers to keep perishable food fresh. The Food Bank cannot accept homemade or home-processed foods, rusty or unlabeled cans, alcoholic beverages or open packages.

Host a FOOD DRIVE!

Organizing a food drive through your business or school is a fun and fulfilling way to leverage your network to benefit our neighbors in need. Having a birthday party or barbecue? Ask your guests to bring a donation in support of the food bank. Give us a call and we can provide you with a barrel and signage.

Time Donations

Time is precious, and the time donated by Food Bank volunteers is invaluable to us. On average volunteers give over 1,000 hours of time to the Food Bank each month. We host groups for volunteer days, and can accommodate different schedules for ongoing commitments. Youth under 16 years are welcome with an accompanying adult. Some of the things volunteers help with are weighing and sorting food donations, keeping food stocked and organized in the market, running the check-out stand and general clean-up. Most of our volunteers come at scheduled times each week, usually half day(s) or whole day(s). If this is more than you are able to commit to, but you still want to be involved, let us know. There are likely other ways we can use your time and talents.

“I have volunteered in food banks before, this one is very supportive of volunteers, making sure we feel appreciated and have a pleasant and safe environment to work in. Bonner Community Food Bank is well organized and efficient – the best of all those where I have served or observed.”                                           -J.B. Volunteer since 2021

Endowment Donations

Supporters can also donate to our endowment fund, providing us with a stable, guaranteed source of future income. The Bonner Community Food Bank Endowment is a permanent investment fund set up through the Idaho Community Foundation in which regular withdrawals from the invested capital are used for ongoing operations of the food bank.

Monetary Donations

Monetary Donations are always welcome, as they can be used for specific needs. It is often more cost-effective for the Food Bank to purchase needed items than for an individual to do so. The Food Bank partners with 2nd Harvest Inland Northwest to procure food supplies at a reduced cost, as well as a number of other organizations. We can also apply the donation to our ongoing operating expenses, allowing us to keep the lights on and to pay staff a living wage. The Bonner Community Food Bank is a non-profit 501c 3 organization, therefore all donations to the Food Bank are tax deductible. Our EIN is 82-0385747.
